Washington Monument restoration

Caught this glimpse of the Washington Monument last weekend taking my niece to Union Station. According to the news they're ready to start the earthquake restoration project. I remember how much the 8th floor building I was in shook during the earthquake. I can't imagine what it felt like at the top of the monument.

Good birding this weekend

I spent a little time outside early yesterday and today and was happy to see lots of birds--a Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Nuthatches, a family of Chickadees, two Carolina Wrens playing chase, Cardinals, and this Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Our house has been under construction for several months and I haven't been able to enjoy the birds much. It was great to see all of them again.

I toured the Southern Living 2012 Idea House in Senoia, Georgia last week. We're in the middle of a house renovation so I was hoping to get a few ideas.
