Lots of hawks visiting lately

I don't know if they're just passing through or are watching my birds and bunny, but we're seeing an awful lot of hawks lately. This was a pretty large Cooper's Hawk. There was a squirrel on the limb below that I was afraid the hawk was going to go after but it didn't. That squirrel doesn't know how lucky it was!

Big start to the new year

I was bird watching at lunchtime today and this beautiful Cooper's Hawk glided in for a quick stop. Luckily I was holding my camera so was able to get a picture.

Cooper's dinner

I was looking out the window while I ate my dinner and saw this Cooper's Hawk land on our shed. Looks like it was ready for dinner as well.

Cooper's Hawk watches my birds again

I walked outside to throw some stale bread out for the birds and spotted this hawk sitting out on a dirt pile very close to my feeders.

Cooper's Hawk gets closer

We've had hawk sightings in and around our yard the past few months so I've assumed they're stalking our birds. I'm now convinced that's what they're doing since this Cooper's Hawk was sitting on the fence right beside my feeders. We placed my feeders 12 feet from my kitchen window so I was able to get this photo before it flew away.

No activity going on

The yard was full of birds, squirrels, bunnies, and chipmunks this morning so Mama and I spent an hour on the back porch. All of a sudden it got quiet and Mama commented that there was no activity going on. Two minutes later I spotted this Cooper's Hawk in the corner of the yard. I was only able to snap one picture before it flew away. You can see his breakfast, which he carried away, on the ground in front of him.

Cooper's Hawk

I looked out the window yesterday and saw this Cooper's Hawk sitting in my neighbor's tree. I grabbed the camera and was able to take this one photo before it flew off. It's not a great picture but I was happy to get it.
