Second hawk of the week

This Sharp-shinned Hawk perched in this dead tree overlooking my front bird feeders for at least an hour yesterday. Thank goodness my birds were smart enough to stay away for a while.

Sharp-shinned Hawk returns

I watched the Sharp-shinned Hawk perch in my neighbor's tree with a perfect view of my feeders on Christmas Eve. It's exciting to see a hawk but I sure hope he's not looking for dinner.

Sharp-shinned Hawk

I walked out the front door yesterday to see if I could spot the waxing crescent moon and Venus and instead spotted this Sharp-shinned Hawk flying away from my neighbor's yard. I grabbed my camera, ran back outside, and found the hawk in the neighbor's tree. The sun was setting so I wasn't able to get a clear picture but was still happy with the two I was able to snap before it flew away.
