First Northern Fllicker sighting

I told a friend two days ago that I had never seen a Northern Flicker and it was on my birding life list. Lo and behold later the same day, I spotted this Northern Flicker in the trees at my sister's house!

Red-bellied Woodpecker sighting

The Red-bellied Woodpecker may be a year round bird on the east coast but I haven't seen one since last winter

Keith Harkin plays at the Hard Rock in Philly

And here's the reason for the day trip to Philly ... a concert by Keith Harkin who broke away from the Celtic Thunder tour for the day to promote his solo album.

He was accompanied by David Bakey, who also plays with Celtic Thunder.

Let's just say the trip was well worth the three and a half hour drive!

Hard Rock Philly style

Took a day trip to Philadelphia last week for a concert at the Hard Rock Cafe. We had a blast.

Hummingbird sighting

I very seldom see a Hummingbird at my house so felt lucky when I spotted this one last week. It should be heading on its migration path but guess it wanted to make my day instead.

Cooper's dinner

I was looking out the window while I ate my dinner and saw this Cooper's Hawk land on our shed. Looks like it was ready for dinner as well.

Collision with this cicada

This cicada ran into me two evenings ago. Seems I fared better than it did.

Washington Monument restoration

Caught this glimpse of the Washington Monument last weekend taking my niece to Union Station. According to the news they're ready to start the earthquake restoration project. I remember how much the 8th floor building I was in shook during the earthquake. I can't imagine what it felt like at the top of the monument.
