Dinner time at the Manassas Eagle nest
We drove over to the Manassas Eagle nest this past Saturday. It was so cold that we decided to grab some food and sit in the truck while we watched the nest and ate our lunch. When we got there, all we saw was the top of a head sitting low in the nest. Nothing happened for about 15 minutes and then out of nowhere we spotted this Eagle flying in from the right. I didn't have time to get out of the truck and focus my camera on the action so I just took a picture from inside the truck. The quality isn't good but I was happy to see that I caught it with it's talons clutching dinner.

Blue skies and cold weather
It's 22 degrees outside today (feels like 11) so we grabbed some lunch and took a ride over to the eagle nest to bird watch while we ate. This is our view of the nest from the truck where we decided to stay today!

Manassas Eagle is nesting now
I've visited the nest two weekends in a row and both times found an Eagle laying low in the nest. I'm officially on egg watch now!

Felt lucky to spot this Northern Flicker
This beautiful Northern Flicker stopped by the neighborhood last weekend while I was watching the flock of Cedar Waxwings. I was happy I had my camera in hand!

Surprise visit by a flock of Cedar Waxwing
Something kept telling me to go look out my back window last Saturday. I was glad I listened because I spotted a single Cedar Waxwing in a tree. After standing there watching it for several minutes, I realized there was a small flock in the neighborhood. I spent the next hour watching them and loved every minute of it.
