A co-worker called me into her office today and pointed towards her window. Standing on the 8th floor ledge was this goose, looking in the window. My co-worker has a tray of seedlings under a grow light beside the window. After a few minutes of looking in, the goose started pecking on the window, as if it was trying to get at the seedlings. It was pretty cool to watch.

Four Quartermaster Corps employees
Near the front of Alexandria National Cemetery, you'll find this monument to four Quartermaster Corps employees -- Peter Carroll, Samuel N. Gosnell, George W. Huntington, and Christopher Farley. These men drowned in the Rappahannock River on April 24, 1865, pursuing John Wilkes Booth following President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.

Rare supermoon
Last night we decided to scope out a new location free of telephone poles, wires, and street lights to watch the supermoon rise. We drove to a local high school forgetting that the parking lot was full of stadium lights. We left that spot and headed to a local park. Once we realize we're looking in the wrong direction, we finally spot the big orange Moon rising through the trees. We pulled off the road and ran up in the field to get a few photos. This photo was the best of the bunch.
We were only there a few minutes when we saw the blue lights flashing behind our truck. We could hear the policeman calling in our tag number so yelled to let him know we were coming. He didn't say we had to leave but told us where we could get a closer view. We took the hint and drove to that location but weren't happy with it. Instead we found a small school at the top of a hill so pulled in their parking lot. The hill was a perfect location so we sat there enjoying the view. This photo was taken there.
Unfortunately, we were only there a few minutes when we saw another police car pull up beside our truck. He didn't seem to mind that we were there once he realized what was going on but we decided to just go home at this point. Too many distractions. This photo was taken from our yard. The Moon was bright and clear ... lighting up the neighborhood.

Staking a claim
I telecommuted today so was able to watch this bird out my kitchen window as I worked. All day it either sat on top of the house or inside looking out. It was as if the bird was afraid to leave. It did leave though and when it returned, brought back materials for a nest. I guess its staked a claim for the spring.
