Full moon

I walked outside early evening yesterday and caught the rising full moon. Later on it was covered by clouds so I was happy to have caught this shot.

First blooms

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and now we have flowers blooming. All is good.

Beer run

Forget the bread, milk, and toliet paper run before a snow storm ... this person had more important things on his mind. I especially like his leg covers.

Winter colors

Like me, this Nandina bush is a transplant from Georgia. I came close to loosing it in the snow storms.

Summer visitor

My summer zinnia blooms attract many visitors to our yard. This one is a Variegated Fritillary (Euptoieta claudia).

Missed mark

The cherry blossoms are pretty but it's still winter so back to reality. I was disappointed when we didn't hit the projected two foot mark with the first blizzard. Still, it was the most snow I've seen in my life!

Up until this past fall, my goldfinch have spent the past few years at my feeders. They disappeared for a while but showed back up during our recent snow storms ... they knew who would take care of them.

I counted a total of nine species over three different sessions today. This little fellow was part of the count.

Blizzard II

Back to back blizzards have made life interesting lately. Both photos were taken looking out my front window ... minutes apart.

A beginning

I don't know why but I've decided to start a blog. I'm not a writer so it will really just be a few words and some photos.

So here goes ... we've had a little snow in the Washington, DC metro area this week, setting a 1899 snow record for a single winter season. This little fellow sums up the way many of us feel.
